"Johnny meets Martin, mainstream & more"

It would be hard to find another artist, who represents the unification of so many talents in one person: Blues, Jazz, Boogie, Stride, Soul, Rhythm & Blues, Entertainment, Humor, Romance, Profoundness, Cabaret, and more ...! In our most "groovy" concert hall in the region, you can experience MARTIN SCHMITT like hardly anywhere else!

Of course one has great memories from Martin’s appearances, after all his performances have always been a special highlight since the starting years of "Shake The Lake" - and this time again he prepared a special program for us. Martin will pull all the register of his skills and spark you with his drive, his inimitable voice and enthusiastic piano playing.

Of course JOHNNY SCHÜTTEN himself - with PHILIPP KOPMAJER on drums and ALEX MEIK on bass ", will start off the evening.

During the last year Johnny got around quite a bit... On one of his eventful paths he met the charming singer TINKA MILINOVIC, whom he succeeded to engage for our festival. She matches wonderfully our concept, as she is an artist who not only unifies numerous talents and charismas in one person, but also possesses a special, natural charm in addition to her musical facets. She copmletes the high-class Line-Up of our festival like the crowning “icing-on teh cake” :-)

Tinka Milinovic is from Bosnia-Herzegovina, she studied singing in the U.S. and was subsequently a pupil of Martina Arroyo, Prima Donna at the New York Metropolitan Opera. With high-quality, classical education, she was part of several Musical Productions. She appears also as a solo jazz singer and Cabaretist. 2006 she participated for Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest; in her home country, Tinka is also a famous TV host.

Thats life ...! Johnny's motto for the beginning of the evening: "THE RENAISSANCE OF MAINSTREAM". For some reason, this term is quite often used in a misunderstanding way. There were (and still are) Jazz-"Purists", who define everything as “Mainstream” that can’t be labeled with a unique assignment in a defined style (eg, Bebop, Cool, etc.), in a way that is liked by “too many” and is therefore dismissed as “Mainstream. Like in classical, wearing blinders when talking about music leads into a dead end – it is especially the variety of musical styles which is exciting for the listener, and with the so-called "Mainstream" this versatility also allows the casual jazz listeners immediate audible and tangible joy. This style is open to influences from different periods of jazz – and you can feel the “swinging” momentum from the first second.

We will take you on an inspiring journey to the different facets of Jazz Piano & vocals. That’s joy + groove - and is for sure going to make you happy!
